Stop scrolling: how ten ratings beat the algorithm

June 10, 2026 · 4 min read

The average person spends more time choosing what to watch than watching the first twenty minutes of it. That's not an accident — a streaming app's home screen is built to keep you inside the app, not to end your search quickly. We built SearchOTT to do the opposite.

Why app algorithms feel off

Your Netflix recommendations are trained on what you watched on Netflix— including the documentary you fell asleep to. The picture is muddy, and it's siloed: no single service knows your whole taste across the four apps you actually use.

Ten honest ratings

On the SearchOTT homepage, we deal you a deck of widely-known titles — in your language, if you set one. You answer love, like, or nope. Ten cards take about a minute, and they say more about your taste than a year of passive viewing data.

What you get back

A genre fingerprint, “because you loved…” rows seeded by your favorites, and feeds tuned to that fingerprint — every title carrying live availability for your country. Saved in your browser, no account, and one tap of “Retune” wipes it clean.
