Overview
Like the original series, 'SPEC' will revolve around a pair of police detectives as part of a special division solving difficult cases (Mishou). Touma Saya is a woman with an IQ of 201 and an inability to 'read the atmosphere' in social situations. Due to a previous case, her left arm is in a sling. Her partner Sebumi Takeru used to be the star performer of the Metropolitan Police. After some incident however, he was transferred to Mishou. Those two track down offenders with special abilities(SPEC) who managed to get away with their crimes.

20 years ago a half-frozen boy was rescuded in the mountains after his parents apparent sucide. He gets released from a mental institution and his girlfriend notices him talking about a dark mountain shadow. Meanwhile a murder happens in a residential area in Tokyo. Assistant Inspector Goda Yuichiro takes on the investigation. Soon an official of the Ministery of Justice gets murdered in a similar fashion pointing towards a serial killer. Yet, Goda receives a strange order from above: he's not to further investigate in this direction. He senses a huge mystery behind the case and starts chasing after the psychopath killer called Marks. Somehow a journalist's research about a corrupt construction magnate and another unsolved murder that happend in the mountains 13 years ago are also linked to the case.

Their youngest daughter, 22-year-old Mika, is also single, and the moment she gets to start living on her own, she half-cohabits with a man who does not seem like he will be a successful manga artist. Gentaro worries endlessly about his daughters who are poor judges of character. Completely ignoring their tastes, this stubborn, old-fashioned father suddenly brings a man whom he likes to the house in the middle of the night and introduces him to his daughters. In fact, this man is Yuka's ex-boyfriend. What will the family be like the next day!?
